It is a Great day for Devotion, last night we fought long and hard, but finally vanquished the Deceiver and cast him back through the Sunwell into the Twisting Nether. We've done it, we succeeded in clearing The Burning Crusade before the release of Wrath of the Lich King.
The road has been a long one, Devotion was formed as a raid guild half way through TBC, and we started slow, we gradually built up speed to the point where we managed to beat both Vashj and Kael before attunement was removed for T6. Early Tier 6 raiding we changed, From being a raid guild to a Raid Alliance, this worked for us, the whole server was having recruitment problems and this is how we overcame them. With our new found strength we pushed onwards, clearing Mount Hyjal and burning your way through Black Temple, Until we came face to face with The Betrayer himself. A challenge he was, but he got put just like every boss before him.
Now when Devotion was first formed, Sunwell wasn’t around, and the main goal of Devotion was to finish T6 content. And by now we had, but Sunwell was sitting there now, teasing us. We kept farming Illidan for a few weeks, getting our first Glaive in the process. Then 3.0.2 hit and we let rip on Sunwell. And let rip we did, taking no more than 2 days on any boss up to Kil'Jaden. Kil'Jaden took a little longer, and in true Devotion style on the last official Devotion raid of TBC, we down him. And a clean kill it was.
So here we are, sitting in the cleansed Sunwell, Basking in its glow, and looking to the future. And what a future it’s going to be.
As of Wednesday the 12th of November 2008, the Devotion Raid group is no more! The Devotion raid group will essentially disband.
In its place will rise not 1 but 3 Raid groups! 2 Hardcore 25man raid alliances and a 10man Hardcore group. We are becoming:
Utter Devotion - the 25man Hardcore raid group, Pushing harder than Devotion has up until now. Raiding 4 days a week, mastering theory crafting and using every trick in the book to Maintain Devotions top 10 raid group status.
Total Devotion - the 25man Hardcore raid group, Again raiding 4 days a week, but with a lower attendance constraint on its members, Total Devotion focuses on Hardcore play rather than a Hardcore timescale. Again our members will be pushing themselves to the very limit of what is possible.
Devoted Empathy - the 10man Hardcore raid group, Devotions 10man arm. Pushing hard into 10mans, keeping Devotion standards and pushing new boundaries.
On top of all of this our Community is expanding, No longer do we have a Guild website. The Devotion community is now a fully fledged site on its own. We have become a multi-gaming community, with our own Battlefield 2 clan as well as our crazy wow antics. Expect this community to grow fast and expand to many new games.
I've been looking forward to writing this for a long time:
ILLIDAN STORMRAGE IS DEAD!
God that felt good.
To truley understand how important this kill is to me and the guild i need to go into a little bit of history. I ran a guild pre-tbc, casual raiding so we never got further than Rag, come tbc i looked for more challenges, i moved between a few guilds, officer in some, even joining some of the high end guilds on the server. But something didnt sit well with me, i never seemed to settle. So roughly midway through TBC i decided to form a new guild. Devotion was formed with one thing in mind: to finish T6 content. We formed pre-sunwell and we just started working, slowly but surely.
To actually be there, looting illidan's corpse, i couldnt be prouder of the guild (sure were not a guild anymore were a raid alliance, but you get my point), when we formed we knew we'd never beat the bigboys, they had alot of time on us, but to catch and or overtake guilds who've been raiding since mid vanilla wow is such a great feeling.
I want to dedicate this kill to a great many people:
Everybody in the raid group has put in so much hard work into learning this fight. So my first dedication has to go to those of you who work hard on learning yet missed the kill, We killed him for you guys.
Secondly to all our officers, who's hard work keeping the guild running, who's tireless pushing and dedication helped get us where we are, We killed him for you guys.
Next i want to thank those of you who've been with us from the begining, those of you who had faith in me when i formed the guild and joined me, those of you who've been there, from kara to Illidan. Who've been there when times have been rough and times good. Oorwullie, Kenjy, Gvd, Dionyzus. We killed him for you guys.
Those Veteran guild members who remember wiping on Mag, those of you who remember wiping on Vashj and Kael, those of you who remember the countless wipe nights learning in th earlier content. Those who was with the guild in the earlier kills but arent with us for one reason or another, you got us where we are. We killed him for you guys.
And to our fans (yes, supprisingly Devotion has fans) We killed him for you guys.
Finally, Thank you! From the bottom of my heart i cant thank you all enough for getting us where we are, for making my dreams become reality, and for being making me so proud!
Roll on WOTLK, Devotion is comming, Devotion is becoming bigger and better. and we are Rearing to go. ARTHAS WATCH OUT, DEVOTION COMES FOR YOU!
Devotion is looking for Fresh meat for the Grinder! After having Completed Tier 5 content we are now happily skipping our way through the merry fields of Hyjal and wandering the dusty halls of the black temple, and now were looking for new friends! Now if those 2 first sentences in completely opposite themes didn’t confuse you, well then you stand a chance at putting up with our levels on insanity.
Our Progress is thus: 6/6 - SSC 4/4 - TK 6/6 - ZA 4/5 - MH 5/9 - BT 5/5 - CAZ (that’s the new Crazy Abbreviation Zone)
We are currently looking to add to our ranks thus: • 2 Shadow Priests!!
Gear level for all Applicants should be: ZA/T5 level min, badge loot ftw as ofc ilvl141 badge loot helps greatly.
Our current raiding schedule is: Wednesday – Off-Night Thursday - Main day Friday – Off-Night Saturday - Drunken 10man (off-day, and no kidding here either) Sunday - Main Day Monday – Main Day Tuesday - Main Day Our raid invites start at 19:30 and the raid finishes at 00:00 (server time ofc)
As you can see were not very Hardcore in our raiding times, guild outlook now is thus; Farm content should take no more than 50% of the week, once farm content starts taking more than 50% of our raid week then we add another day. We will start on a basic 4 days a week raiding; Thursday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, with off day raids scattered throughout the rest of the week.
Were also a Raid Alliance! Whilst Guild membership is prefered, you dont need our guild tag to be part of our raiding group! So if your in a guild with Friends/Family and you dont want to leave them, feel free to still apply Simply put now: We Raid Hardcore, Not Hardcore times
• When we raid we expect 110% from every member at all times, • We expect every member to be 100% consumabled up, • We expect everybody to take a very hardcore view on their own gear, doing everything in your power in and out of raids to improve your own gear, make it the best you possibly can, perfect gemming and enchants. Take Pride in your gear! • We expect everybody to know the tactics for the next 2/3 boss fights, we to be able to randomly tell the raid were fighting X boss now and everybody to just know what their role is, because they did the research. • We expect nothing short of flawless focus during the raid, no slacking, no side-tracking, no silly mistakes because you wasn’t concentrating, we all give it everything we have!
http://www.Devotionguild.co.uk is the place to go to apply, Currently were having fun dancing around the feet of a nice Eredar chap and playing with Some Weird Souls, Come join us and lets have fun!
